Wedding Movies

I’m currently finishing the wedding invitations for one of our friends, so I’m in full wedding mode. Here are my favorite wedding movies…

My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002) A young Greek woman falls in love with a non-Greek and struggles to get her family to accept him while she comes to terms with her heritage and cultural identity.
Why: Hey, I’m married to a non-Puerto Rican, I know how this goes.

The Wedding Singer (1998) Robbie, the singer and Julia, the waitress are both engaged to be married but to the wrong people. Fortune intervenes to help them discover each other.
Why: Love Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, plus the awesome 80’s music.

Father of the Bride (1991) George is a nervous father unready to face the fact that his little girl is now a woman.
Why: It always made me wonder how my dad will cope with us getting married, plus a certain hot dog bread scene.

27 Dresses (2008) After serving as a bridesmaid 27 times, a young woman wrestles with the idea of standing by her sister’s side as her sibling marries the man she’s secretly in love with.
Why: James Marsden, do I need to say more?

Made of Honor (2008) A guy in love with an engaged woman tries to win her over after she asks him to be her maid of honor.
Why: Really cool guy perspective on weddings.
My Best Friend’s Wedding (1997) When a woman’s long-time friend says he’s engaged, she realizes she loves him herself… and sets out to get him, with only days before the wedding.
Why: Maybe silly, but I love the group’s rendition of “I say a little prayer”.
